The Cotton States Junior High Leagues provide local players the opportunity to maintain and improve their baseball skills during the off-season in a competitive environment. Founded in 2009, the league has grown to include two (2) seasons and over twenty five (25) teams.
The Cotton States Leagues operate at a single site located conveniently off of US 78 (future I-22) in New Albany, MS on the renovated fields at the BNA Bank Park, the baseball home of the Cotton States Baseball League, the Blue Mountain College Toppers and New Albany High School.
Players typically come from a 150 mile radius and represent schools from all classifications, including private and public institutions. During the July season, games are played on the weekend and on weeknights, other than Wednesday night. During the Fall season, games are only played on Saturdays and Sundays and all attempts to avoid home SEC football games at MSU or Ole Miss are made.
The Cotton States High School and Junior High Leagues will operate under the rules for high school play in Mississippi except that teams will bat a continuous lineup.
Pitchers will not be allowed to pitch more than four innings in a weekend during the Fall season. Teams will consist of 12-14 players, and each will be coached by a paid coach. Coaching staffs include scouts, professional players, former travel coaches, and CSBL collegiate league players. Players will receive a team jersey and cap with their registration. The cost to play in the league in either season is $284.65 and $517.50 for both seasons in a calendar year. Teams play a 10-game schedule in both seasons.
Umpires utilized in the Cotton States Leagues will be high school certified as a minimum.
The CSJH League will feature a collegiate level internet website complete with full league stats, news, schedules, and standings. Players may apply online for entry into the league at http://CottonStatesJuniorLeague.com
Players will be provided a team jersey, cap, socks, and belt upon payment. Players will be expected to wear either gray or white pants and provide their own mitts/gloves and cleats. High School certified aluminum bats (BBCOR) will be used in the Cotton States Leagues..
